Bold Notions for Bold Women

Hi there and thanks for visiting Bold Notions! My name is Emma and this blog is where I am sharing my personal finance journey, with some travel and lifestyle tips thrown in for good measure! At Bold Notions, I encourage readers to gain independence and take control of their lives through smart financial management and personal development. As a recent college graduate making my foray into “adult life”, I was shocked to find out how much I didn’t know about managing money. Even more shocking to me was how common a problem this appears to be for others, no matter one’s age.

Being passionate about personal finance may not sound fun or exciting (that’s what I used to think!), but let me assure you, there’s a certain thrill to be found in making your money work for you, rather than the other way around. I’ve spent too much of my time stressed about my bank account balance rather than enjoying and living my life, and I want to share with others the valuable effect this has had on me.

So who am I? First, I can tell you what I’m not. I’m not a financial planner, nor do I have a degree in accounting, finance, or anything even remotely related to money management. I can’t claim to be a whiz at investing or the stock market or give you advice on how to file your taxes. In fact, I’ve never taken an accounting or finance course in my life.

You might be wondering why I’m bothering to share my insight into personal finance at all. Here’s the thing: you don’t need any of the above to be good at managing your money. I graduated from college in 2015 with a liberal arts degree.
